About this opening
Kalyon Holding is hiring a Senior Alignment Engineer in Abu Dhabi to review track alignment design for a major rail project. The engineer checks horizontal and vertical alignment and track geometry, tests whether the alignment can actually be built alongside the earthworks, structures and stations, and keeps alignment data consistent across the project model and survey control.
What the role involves
- Review horizontal and vertical alignment design, track geometry and civils setting-out data
- Assess whether the alignment can be built as drawn against the earthworks, structures and station positions
- Coordinate alignment interfaces with the bridges, tunnels, stations and utilities disciplines
- Respond to construction's alignment-related site queries and technical queries
- Check that alignment data stays consistent across the federated BIM model and the survey control
- Assess alignment design changes and what they mean downstream for structures and stations
- Support chainage referencing and survey control coordination with the survey / GIS function, and maintain the alignment review tracker for the Civils Design Manager
Requirements noted by the source board
- Bachelor's degree in civil or rail engineering from an accredited university; a master's degree is preferred
- Minimum 10-12 years of civil / rail alignment engineering experience, including track geometry design or design review on rail projects
- Experience on a high-speed rail or metro project of similar scale is preferred
- Working knowledge of track alignment design standards, Civil3D alignment modelling and survey control coordination
- Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory; Arabic is an advantage
