Driver at work — Qatar
Typical offers to new arrivals in current job ads
QAR 2,000 – 3,000 / month
About Rs 152,160 – Rs 228,240 per month in Pakistani rupees.

Based on: Current Qatar driver advertisements reviewed Oct 2026 (light-vehicle offers mostly QAR 2,000–3,200, company accommodation commonly provided); reported-salary context from Indeed Qatar (driver average QAR 2,056/month from 414 salaries, updated Oct 2026 — see explanation below). Home-currency figures use mid-market rates checked 15 Oct 2026 (1 SAR ≈ Rs 73.85; 1 AED ≈ Rs 75.41; 1 QAR ≈ Rs 76.08, added 19 Oct 2026 from the same USD pegs). Your bank or exchange shop will give a slightly lower rate.

Salary by segment — the part most websites hide

A single "average salary" for this job would mislead you. What you are actually offered depends mostly on the vehicle on your licence — light-vehicle and company-car work sits in one band, heavy truck and trailer work in a higher one — and on whether the offer is a fixed salary or a smaller fixed part plus commission or per-trip money. Commission and overtime are NOT included in any figure on this page — treat them as a variable extra on top of the salary in your contract:

SegmentMonthly salaryNote
New arrival — light-vehicle and company driver offersQAR 2,000 – 3,000 / monthDocumented in current advertisements reviewed Oct 2026: a Doha service-company light-vehicle role at QAR 2,500–3,000 plus company accommodation, a Doha logistics light-vehicle role at QAR 2,500–3,200, and a full-time company driver role at QAR 2,000 flat. Most of these roles ask for a valid Qatar driving licence and prefer drivers already in Qatar
Heavy vehicle, truck and trailer offersQAR 2,500 – 3,500 / monthDocumented in current construction and logistics advertisements reviewed Oct 2026 — a medium tipper-truck role at QAR 2,500 with food, accommodation and transport provided, and heavy and trailer roles at QAR 2,500–3,500. A heavy licence and site experience are required; do not judge a light-vehicle offer against this band
Market figure, all experience levels~QAR 2,056 / month average (reported range QAR 884 – 4,779)Indeed Qatar reported salaries based on 414 salaries, updated Oct 2026 — includes experienced drivers and premium locations (the Doha International Airport area averages about QAR 3,219, and large employers such as the national transport operator post well above the average); do not expect the top of the range as a first offer

What the job involves

Driving company cars, vans and — on a heavy licence — trucks and trailers for employers in transport, logistics, construction, hospitality and services: moving staff, guests, documents and goods on planned routes; daily vehicle checks (oil, tyres, lights, fuel) and keeping the vehicle clean; keeping trip sheets, mileage and delivery records; and following Qatar traffic law on every run. Almost every current advertisement asks for a valid Qatar driving licence for the vehicle category, knowledge of Doha routes, and a clean driving record.

What your total package usually includes

For drivers in Qatar, the package usually comes down to accommodation and whether the vehicle, fuel and overtime are the company's problem or yours — the table below shows what each part normally means in this trade:

Part of the packageWhat it usually means in practice
HousingShared accommodation is standard at entry level. Some employers give a housing allowance instead — a room and cash are not worth the same, so ask which one your offer includes.
TransportCompany transport to the site is common on project work. City jobs may give a transport allowance, or nothing at all — and if it is nothing, that cost comes out of your salary.
OvertimePaid on top of basic when hours run long. Get the rate — and how the hours are counted — in writing. "Overtime available" with no rate attached means very little.
MedicalEmployer-provided health insurance, arranged as part of the job. You should receive the insurance card — not have to chase anyone for it.
Air ticketA return ticket home every 1–2 years is standard in most contracts. Check the interval, and whether it covers family (at this level, it usually covers you only).

Count these before you judge any offer. A slightly lower salary with housing, transport and overtime paid can leave you with more in savings at month's end than a higher headline figure without them.

On a Qatar driver offer, confirm in writing: accommodation provided or an allowance, who pays for fuel and vehicle maintenance (it should be the employer), how overtime and any commission are calculated, and who pays for your Qatar licence if you do not hold one yet — those four answers are worth more than a small difference in the basic figure.

How pay is structured for drivers in Qatar

Most company and project driving in Qatar is a fixed monthly salary paid through the Wage Protection System, with overtime on top when shifts run long — get the overtime rate into the contract, because long days are normal in transport and site work. Two parts of the market work differently. Taxi and passenger work often mixes a smaller fixed salary with commission on fares, so a quiet month pays less than a busy one; ask for the fixed-versus-commission split in writing before you judge the headline figure. Delivery work can add per-order or per-trip incentives on top of a basic — the same rule applies: the guaranteed part is the salary, everything else is variable. Heavy and tanker work sometimes adds trip or hazard allowances; those belong in the contract too, not in a verbal promise.

Where driver jobs are concentrated in Qatar

Doha holds most of the driving work — company fleets, hotels, delivery networks and the airport area, where reported pay runs above the national average. Lusail and Al Wakrah add growing delivery and services demand, and the industrial cities of Ras Laffan and Mesaieed are where the heavy, trailer and tanker roles concentrate, tied to energy and construction projects. Project hiring rises and falls with the projects themselves, so a heavy-driver demand should always be checked as currently live before you pay anyone anything.

How to get this job safely

1. Apply to the company directly, or go through a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter — nobody else. 2. Before you pay a single rupee, verify the agent's licence and check the job has a Permission Tracking Number (the guide below shows how). 3. Get the salary, the overtime rate and the accommodation written into the contract — a verbal promise made in an agent's office tends to disappear at the airport. 4. Never hand your original passport to an unlicensed person, and never travel for work without the Protector stamp.

Stay safe: A real job never requires paying an unlicensed agent. In Pakistan, only use a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP), check the job on the BEOE portal, and remember the licensed agent's service charge is capped at Rs 15,000 — paid through a bank and released only after you join the job. Frequently asked questions

Why do some websites say Qatar drivers earn QAR 4,500 or more?

Those figures usually describe chauffeur and VIP work, airport-area roles, senior heavy and tanker drivers, or modelled averages that mix every level together. Current advertisements for new arrivals cluster around QAR 2,000–3,000 for light-vehicle work. A heavy-licence driver with Gulf site experience can earn well above that — but planning your first contract on a premium figure is how workers get disappointed.

Do I need a Qatar driving licence to get a driver job in Qatar?

For most current openings, yes — the advertisements we reviewed ask for a valid Qatar licence for the vehicle category, and many prefer drivers already living in Qatar. A home-country licence alone is rarely enough for company driving work. Whether your licence can be converted or you must take lessons and a test in Qatar depends on the issuing country — ask the employer, in writing, who pays for that process before you accept an offer.

Is accommodation included for drivers in Qatar?

Often, yes — company accommodation was included in several of the current offers we reviewed, and project and heavy-vehicle roles commonly add food and transport as well. Check which parts your own offer includes, because a salary with housing and food provided leaves far more to save than the same salary without them.

How can I get a better driver salary in Qatar?

The licence decides most of it: a heavy vehicle or trailer licence opens the QAR 2,500–3,500 band, a clean record and Doha route knowledge make you employable at the better fleet operators, and overtime that is agreed in writing — with a rate — is worth more than overtime that is only promised. Passenger and chauffeur work rewards presentation and English or Arabic spoken well.
