Salary by segment — the part most websites hide
A single "average salary" for this job would mislead you. What you are actually offered depends mostly on experience and on the type of venue — coffee shops and ordinary restaurants pay the entry band, hotels and banqueting pay more, and fine-dining is a small premium tier of its own. Tips and service charge are NOT included in any figure on this page — they vary by venue and month, so treat them as a variable extra on top of the salary in your contract, never as part of the headline pay:
| Segment | Monthly salary | Note |
|---|---|---|
| New arrival — ordinary restaurant and coffee-shop offers | SAR 1,200 – 2,000 / month | Documented in current advertisements reviewed Oct 2026: a Riyadh coffee-shop waiter at SAR 1,200 with free accommodation, transport and food; food and beverage servers at SAR 1,500–1,700; the top of the band needs some experience or a hotel background |
| Experienced / hotel and banquet waiter offers | SAR 1,800 – 2,800 / month | Documented in current advertisements and reported pay reviewed Oct 2026: an experienced banquet waiter offer totals SAR 1,800 (SAR 1,500 basic plus SAR 300 allowance, 50 vacancies), and reported waiter averages in Saudi Arabia sit inside this band — tips and service charge, where a venue pays them, come on top and are not counted here |
| Market figure, all experience levels | ~SAR 2,735 / month average (highest reported SAR 4,000) | Naukrigulf reported restaurant waiter salaries in Saudi Arabia — includes senior, hotel and fine-dining waiters; do not expect this as a first offer |
What the job involves
Taking guest orders and serving food and drinks in restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and banqueting halls; setting and clearing tables and keeping service stations stocked; presenting bills and handling card and cash payments where the venue requires it; learning the menu, ingredients and allergen basics so guest questions can be answered; and following food-hygiene and safety rules. Banquet and events work adds large-function setup, tray service and late finishes, and is usually where the better offers sit.
What your total package usually includes
Beyond the basic salary, Gulf offers commonly include some of:
| Part of the package | What offers commonly include |
|---|---|
| Housing | Housing or a housing allowance |
| Transport | Transport to the work site |
| Overtime | Overtime (ask the rate before signing) |
| Medical | Medical insurance |
| Air ticket | A return air ticket every 1–2 years |
Two offers with the same salary can be worth very different amounts once these are counted — compare the full package, not just the headline figure.
How to get this job safely

Frequently asked questions
Why do some websites say Saudi waiters earn SAR 5,000 or more?
Those figures describe a small premium tier — for example a fine-dining waiter listing in Riyadh at SAR 5,000/month — or supervisors and head waiters, or modelled averages that mix every level together. Current advertisements for ordinary new arrivals cluster around SAR 1,200–2,000. A fine-dining offer is real, but it needs fine-dining experience and is not the typical first contract.
Are tips included in these salary figures?
No — deliberately. Tips and service-charge distributions vary too much by venue and season to publish as salary, and some venues pay none. Judge an offer on its written basic salary and allowances; treat anything you later receive in tips as a bonus, not as pay you can plan around.
Is food and accommodation included for waiters in Saudi Arabia?
Often, yes — the Riyadh coffee-shop advertisement we reviewed included free accommodation, transport and food, and hotel and banqueting employers commonly provide duty meals. Where food and housing are provided, an SAR 1,500 offer can be worth more in savings than a slightly higher salary without them, so compare the full package.
How can I get a better waiter salary in Saudi Arabia?
Hotel and banqueting experience pays more than ordinary restaurant work, English plus basic service Arabic helps with guests, and point-of-sale (POS) and coffee-making (barista) skills widen the roles you can be offered. Fine-dining service technique is the route into the premium tier — but get the higher grade written into the contract, not promised verbally.
