Salary by segment — the part most websites hide
A single "average salary" for this job would mislead you. What you are actually offered depends mostly on the systems you can handle — split and window units sit in one band, package, VRF and chiller work in a higher one — and on whether you can diagnose electrical faults as well as service units. Overtime is NOT included in any figure on this page — in the UAE the summer breakdown season can add a lot on top, but it is variable, so treat it as extra:
| Segment | Monthly salary | Note |
|---|---|---|
| New arrival — split and window AC technician offers | AED 2,000 – 3,000 / month | Documented in current advertisements and postings reviewed Oct 2026: a Gulf News Dubai senior HVAC technician advertisement at AED 2,500/month plus overtime, accommodation and transport for 2–3 years of Gulf experience, a Bayt senior AC technician band in Dubai at AED 1,836–3,673, and Indeed job postings in Dubai at AED 2,500–3,500/month. The headline band is the overlap where a skilled new arrival is actually hired |
| Experienced HVAC technician offers — package, VRF and chiller work | AED 3,000 – 5,509 / month | Documented in current Bayt advertisements reviewed Oct 2026: an Innovate Complete Technical Services AC technician role in Dubai and a ZENNER Middle East AC technician role in Ajman, both listed at AED 3,673–5,509 for mid-career candidates, and a Dubai chilled-water and DX HVAC technician role listed at an estimated AED 3,500–5,500. Package units, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs and chillers are what move an offer into this segment — a trade certificate and Gulf facilities experience are normally required |
| Market figures, all experience levels — read both titles | Air Conditioning Technician ~AED 2,596 / month average; HVAC Technician ~AED 2,639 / month average (reported ranges AED 1,604 – 4,199 and AED 1,235 – 5,639) | Indeed UAE reported salaries for Dubai, both updated 12 October 2026: Air Conditioning Technician based on 494 salaries, HVAC Technician based on 974 salaries. Employers use the two titles for overlapping work, so we publish both averages openly — neither one is a first offer, and the current advertisements above are the better guide to what a new arrival is hired at |
What the job involves
Installing, servicing and repairing split, window, ducted and package air-conditioning units; planned preventive maintenance (PPM) — filter and coil cleaning, chemical washing and scheduled servicing; diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults in compressors, fan motors, thermostats and control boards; checking pressures, finding refrigerant leaks, repairing them, evacuating and charging gas (R22, R410A, R32 and R134a); servicing fan coil units (FCUs) and air handling units (AHUs) on larger sites; and completing work orders and job cards, often on a CAFM or CMMS system in facilities work. Technicians who can handle VRF/VRV systems and chillers, and diagnose electrical faults rather than only topping up gas, are the ones employers pay more for.
What your total package usually includes
For AC technicians in the UAE, the package usually comes down to accommodation, site transport and summer overtime — the table below shows what each part normally means in this trade:
| Part of the package | What it usually means in practice |
|---|---|
| Housing | Shared accommodation is standard at entry level. Some employers give a housing allowance instead — a room and cash are not worth the same, so ask which one your offer includes. |
| Transport | Company transport to the site is common on project work. City jobs may give a transport allowance, or nothing at all — and if it is nothing, that cost comes out of your salary. |
| Overtime | Paid on top of basic when hours run long. Get the rate — and how the hours are counted — in writing. "Overtime available" with no rate attached means very little. |
| Medical | Employer-provided health insurance, arranged as part of the job. You should receive the insurance card — not have to chase anyone for it. |
| Air ticket | A return ticket home every 1–2 years is standard in most contracts. Check the interval, and whether it covers family (at this level, it usually covers you only). |
Count these before you judge any offer. A slightly lower salary with housing, transport and overtime paid can leave you with more in savings at month's end than a higher headline figure without them.
On a UAE AC technician offer, confirm in writing: accommodation provided or an allowance, who provides transport between sites, how summer overtime and call-outs are counted and paid, and whether tools and refrigerant handling are the employer's cost — those answers are worth more than a small difference in the basic figure.
How pay is structured for AC technicians in the UAE
AC technicians in the UAE are paid a fixed monthly salary, and the trade's income pattern is seasonal: from late spring to early autumn, breakdowns multiply and overtime and call-out work become a large part of many technicians' real income, while the winter months are quieter. Facilities employers on planned-maintenance contracts sometimes add completion or attendance incentives, but those are only worth counting when they are written into the contract. Judge every offer across a full year on its written basic and allowances first — a strong summer month is not the salary.
Where AC technician jobs are concentrated in the UAE
Dubai holds most of the work — facilities-management contracts for malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, residential towers and office buildings, plus villa and apartment maintenance teams across the city. Abu Dhabi follows with government, hospitality and industrial cooling demand, and Sharjah and Ajman add industrial and residential work. Facilities-management companies are the steadiest year-round employers; installation work follows the construction cycle.
How to get this job safely
1. Apply to the company directly, or go through a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter — nobody else. 2. Before you pay a single rupee, verify the agent's licence and check the job has a Permission Tracking Number (the guide below shows how). 3. Get the salary, the overtime rate and the accommodation written into the contract — a verbal promise made in an agent's office tends to disappear at the airport. 4. Never hand your original passport to an unlicensed person, and never travel for work without the Protector stamp.
Frequently asked questions
Why do some websites say UAE AC technicians earn AED 5,500 or more?
That top figure is real — but it describes experienced mid-career and specialist work, not a first offer. The current Bayt advertisements we reviewed list mid-career Dubai and Ajman AC technician roles at AED 3,673–5,509, and HVAC foremen and supervisors sit above that. Current advertisements for skilled new arrivals cluster around AED 2,000–3,500 for split and window work. Planning your first contract on a mid-career figure is how workers get disappointed.
Why do Indeed’s two averages for this trade look so close?
Because in the UAE the two titles overlap almost completely. Indeed puts Air Conditioning Technician in Dubai at about AED 2,596 a month from 494 salaries and HVAC Technician in Dubai at about AED 2,639 from 974 salaries, both updated 12 October 2026. The samples are large and the work is the same, so the averages land close together — we publish both openly and base the headline band on current advertisements instead.
Is accommodation included for AC technicians in the UAE?
Often, yes in facilities and project work — the Gulf News advertisement we reviewed listed accommodation and transport on top of the AED 2,500 salary, and facilities employers commonly provide shared accommodation and site transport. Check which form your own offer takes, because a Dubai salary with housing provided leaves far more to save than the same salary without it.
How can I get a better AC technician salary in the UAE?
The systems you can prove decide it: VRF/VRV and chiller experience pays above split-only work, electrical fault diagnosis pays above gas top-ups, and an ITI or diploma certificate plus Gulf facilities experience is what the better employers ask for. A UAE driving licence also widens the service-van roles you can take, because many Dubai maintenance teams work from a van across multiple sites.
