Sommerman Skinner Associates (SSA Limited) is recruiting a Senior Estimator in Dubai for a leading UAE civil and infrastructure contractor. The estimator prepares detailed, competitive tenders for roads, highways, airport runways, bridges, tunnels and associated infrastructure works, working with estimating, commercial, engineering and procurement teams and guiding junior estimators.
What the role involves
- Review drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities and other tender documents to establish scope, identify discrepancies and prepare tender queries
- Prepare detailed estimates covering labour, materials, plant and subcontract works, taking account of construction methods, productivity, logistics and project requirements
- Undertake and review quantity take-offs, checking quantities against tender documentation and identifying omissions or inconsistencies
- Coordinate enquiries with procurement teams, assess supplier and subcontractor quotations and prepare price comparisons
- Identify pricing risks, exclusions and assumptions, and assess alternative materials, methods and value engineering opportunities with technical and delivery teams
- Contribute to tender reviews and the preparation of pricing schedules, clarifications and supporting documentation within submission deadlines
- Support the handover of successful tenders to project and commercial teams, explaining pricing assumptions, allowances, risks and scope
- Support and mentor junior estimators, reviewing take-offs, rate build-ups and pricing work for accuracy and completeness
Requirements noted by the source board
