🇰🇼 Salaries & Worker Guide — Kuwait

Kuwait pays in the strongest currency in the Gulf — one Kuwaiti dinar is worth roughly US$3.25 — so even a modest dinar salary converts to serious money at home. Below is the first Kuwait salary range we have verified to our two-source standard, plus the permit route, package rules and checks every Kuwait-bound worker should understand. More trades will be added only when two sources support each figure.

Ranges are documented offers to new arrivals (sources on each page), checked October 2026. More trades are being verified and added — we publish a figure only when at least two sources support it.

Who comes to Kuwait from Pakistan — and for what work

Kuwait’s Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi workforce is concentrated in driving (company, delivery, household and heavy work), construction and contracting, hospitality, restaurants and retail, logistics and warehousing, and the oil-sector contractor ecosystem around Ahmadi, where refineries and energy projects employ drivers, technicians and trades through contracting companies. As in the bigger Gulf states, the route in matters: a direct employer with its own workforce generally offers clearer terms than a manpower supplier placing workers with clients, and the full written package — not the headline salary — decides what you actually keep.

The work-permit route — the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM)

Work permits in Kuwait are handled through the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). The employer applies for the permit before you travel — a genuine Kuwait job starts with the employer arranging the work permit and entry visa in your name, followed by a medical examination, fingerprinting and issue of your Civil ID after arrival. Company employment sits on an Article 18 residence under the private-sector Labour Law; household employment (including house drivers) sits on an Article 20 residence under the domestic-workers law, with different rules — know which one your offer is on. Workers coming from Pakistan use the same legal route as for any Gulf country: a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter, the demand checked on the BEOE portal, and the Protector of Emigrants stamp before departure — the full steps are in our agent-verification guide. Anyone offering to sell you a Kuwait visa outside the employer’s PAM application is running the same scam pattern as elsewhere in the Gulf.

How a Kuwait pay package usually works

A typical company offer combines a basic salary with shared accommodation provided (standard on driving, project and industrial work) or a housing allowance, plus medical cover arranged by the employer and a return air ticket at contract intervals. Salaries must be paid through the banking system — cash payment is a warning sign, not a convenience. The legal minimum wage is KWD 75 a month: a floor in the law, far below every market band on this site. Because the dinar is so strong, small dinar differences are large money at home — KWD 20 a month is about Rs 18,000 — so the provided parts of the package (room, food, vehicle and fuel on driving roles) deserve the same attention as the salary figure itself.

Living costs and sending money home

For workers whose accommodation is provided, personal spending is mainly food (where not provided), mobile and small daily costs, and most of the salary can go home through banks and licensed exchange companies — keep the receipts for every transfer. Workers paying their own rent in Kuwait City or Hawally face Gulf big-city prices in the world’s strongest currency, so an offer without housing needs a clearly higher salary to be worth the same. Shared rooms in areas such as Farwaniya, Khaitan, Jleeb and Mahboula are where most single workers live.

Your rights — the official place to check

Kuwait private-sector employment sits under Labour Law No. 6 of 2010, and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is the authority for work permits, wage complaints and worker services. Keep copies of your contract, Civil ID and payslips at all times. If pay stops, arrives short, or a different contract is substituted on arrival, raise it with PAM in writing — and keep the bank records, because wages paid through the banking system leave exactly the paper trail a complaint needs.

Kuwait end-of-service indemnity — the rule

Under the Labour Law, a monthly-paid worker whose employer ends the contract is entitled to an end-of-service indemnity of at least 15 days of wages for each of the first five years of service and one month of wages for each year after that. A worker who resigns receives a reduced share that rises with length of service (half from three to five years, three-quarters from five to ten, and the full amount after ten years). Confirm your contract’s exact wording — the indemnity is real money, and it is calculated on your service and final wage, not on promises.

What to verify before travelling to Kuwait

Your contract salary and allowances in writing, which residence the job is on (Article 18 or Article 20), who pays for accommodation, food and the Kuwait driving licence if the role needs one, and the employer’s PAM permit in your name. Workers coming from Pakistan should use the same safety checks as for any Gulf country: licensed agent only, verify the job, never pay above the official cap. Browse the current Kuwait job listings to see live openings when they appear.

Stay safe: A real job never requires paying an unlicensed agent. In Pakistan, only use a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP), check the job on the BEOE portal, and remember the licensed agent's service charge is capped at Rs 15,000 — paid through a bank and released only after you join the job.
